My childhood spent in East Africa and Kuwait was filled with vibrant colours and designs which have stayed with me and continue to be an important inspiration to my work. On returning to England, I studied textile design in London’s East End, specialising in hand-woven rugs.

I work using mostly grogged porcelain or sculptural stoneware clay, extruding, slab rolling or throwing it to become pieces full of character, decorated by mark making. I use a variety of glazing methods from salt, raku, wood firing and electric kiln firing. I never know what will appear when I’m working in my studio, inspiration comes from the clay.
